HARPER ANNOUNCES LOUISVILLE-WINSTON COUNTY FAA GRANT

WASHINGTON, DC – In Washington this past Wednesday, U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) notified Mayor Daniel Yarbrough and representatives from the Louisville-Winston County Partnership of a $273,551.00 grant award. The award, issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration, allows the Louisville-Winston County Airport to advance on a project to install perimeter fencing and remove obstructions from the runway at the local airport. Removal of trees near the runway will provide a clear, unobstructed approach for approaching planes. The perimeter fence will prevent wildlife, such as deer, from wondering onto the airfield pavement.

“I was thrilled to share this good news with the folks visiting my office from Winston County,” said Congressman Harper. “This grant provides a great opportunity to improve safety and quality of aviation at the Louisville-Winston County Airport.”

A conservative man of faith and integrity, Gregg was elected in November, 2008 to serve the citizens of Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. Soon after the election, his peers elected him as the only freshman of the Republican Steering Committee in the House of Representatives. Gregg is the only Republican freshman appointed by Republican Minority Leader John Boehner to the Committee on House Administration and also sits on the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on the Budget. Gregg currently resides in Pearl with his wife of 29 years, Sidney, and their two children, Livingston and Maggie, where the Harpers are active members of Crossgates Baptist church.
