HARPER ANNOUNCES G.V. SONNY MONTGOMERY FAA GRANT

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) recently notified the Honorable Nancy Chambers, Mayor of Forest, of a $66,426.00 grant award. The award, issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration, allows G.V. Sonny Montgomery Airfield to advance on a project to repair surface irregularities. Currently, the runways are practically unusable due to soil heaving, bumps and dips.

“I am honored to announce this grant for the City of Forest. Repairing these runways will provide better and safer access to the City of Forest for both residents and businesses,” said Congressman Gregg Harper. “Improvements to the airfield’s infrastructure through this FAA Grant will also provide the potential for continued economic development opportunities for the city.”

A conservative man of faith and integrity, Gregg was elected in November, 2008 to serve the citizens of Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. Soon after the election, his peers elected him as the only freshman of the Republican Steering Committee in the House of Representatives. Gregg is the only Republican freshman appointed by Republican Minority Leader John Boehner to the Committee on House Administration and also sits on the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on the Budget. Gregg currently resides in Pearl with his wife of 29 years, Sidney, and their two children, Livingston and Maggie, where the Harpers are active members of Crossgates Baptist church.
