HARPER JOINS HOUSE COLLEAGUES, NFL STAR FOR NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R–Miss.) made the following statement today following a bipartisan press conference with Rep. Randy Forbes, Republican of Virginia and the National Football League’s 2005 MVP, Shaun Alexander.
“The Founding Fathers knew that prayer and God’s Holy word had protected them, blessed them, and given them guidance to begin this journey. Today, as I serve in the House of Representatives, I rely on prayer to guide my path daily as I humbly seek the Lord.
“I am thankful that my colleagues, both Republican and Democratic, have taken time to pause from their busy schedules to recognize this time tested foundation of our country.”
NOTE: In addition to this statement, Congressman Harper released a video which highlights the constant reminders of God's presence surrounding him in our nation's capitol as he serves in the U.S. House of Representatives. To view the video, click here.

A conservative man of faith and integrity, Gregg was elected in November, 2008 to serve the citizens of Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. Soon after the election, his peers elected him as the only freshman of the Republican Steering Committee in the House of Representatives. Gregg is the only Republican freshman appointed by Republican Minority Leader John Boehner to the Committee on House Administration and also sits on the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on the Budget. Gregg currently resides in Pearl with his wife of 29 years, Sidney, and their two children, Livingston and Maggie, where the Harpers are active members of Crossgates Baptist church.
