HARPER: MISSISSIPPI CAN LEAD THE NATION WITH KEMPER COUNTY IGCC PLANT

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R–Miss.) released the following statement today in support of the Mississippi Power Company proposed IGCC plant in Kemper County at the conclusion of the five day Public Service Commission hearings.

"America continues to pursue energy independence by exploring new technologies, such as clean coal and CO2 sequestration. Mississippi has an opportunity to lead the nation by putting this state of the art gasification plant online benefitting the people of Kemper County and the Third Congressional District. It is my hope that the Public Service Commission will move forward in a positive manner so that our state can expand in east Mississippi through economic development and growth."
