WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Harper will deliver the keynote address for the Change of Command Ceremony on board the USS John C. Stennis today.
It is fitting that this Change of Command Ceremony will be held on what would have been Senator Stennis’ 117th birthday. Congressman Harper will speak to that and talk about the legacy that Senator Stennis leaves with the navy and the ship that bears his name. Congressman Harper will also highlight the professionalism, dedication, and accomplishments of the crew under Captain Gregory C. Huffman’s leadership. Finally, he will discuss NDAA as it relates to the Navy and offer words of encouragement as the Servicemembers “look ahead” to a new day in our military and in the command of the USS John C. Stennis.
“It is my honor to be invited to speak at the historic Change of Command Ceremony on board the USS John C. Stennis,” said Harper. “It is with great gratitude that we honor Captain Huffman, Captain Peck, and all of those who defend our country with great patriotism, virtue, and courage.”
